Walking the Way of the Rainbow Bridge
A call to remember the colors we carry and the worlds we are shaping
The below is story I wrote based on a dream I had. I couldn’t fully remember it upon waking, but did the best I could to recreate it. It takes us through all of the steps, using them to bring ourselves and the Divine Feminine into harmony.
Within the quiet of my mind, suspended between waking and dream, I saw an angel approaching. Without a word, she took my left hand within her right and led me across a vast and tranquil plain. It was a realm untouched by the ways, the means, or the hands of men. We walked together in silence until Mary paused and lifted her gaze toward the heavens. Raising her left hand, she extended a single finger and traced an arc from left to right. At once, a magnificent rainbow appeared.
She then asked me to notice how a rainbow forms a path: it rises from the earth to the heavens before descending to earth again. “So full of hope,’ she said, and then another word followed, carried like a whisper on the wind: “Destiny.”
Together we gazed upon the rainbow, and she said, “This rainbow is your destiny. It is part of who you are, because you are part of everything.”
We silently viewed the rainbow towering majestically above us. It was both vast and awe-inspiring, like a bridge spun from light itself. Yet when I turned to the angel, I saw no trace of astonishment in her eyes. She looked at me with quiet knowing, as if aware that we were witnessing a sacred truth, It was one she understood, and one I had only begun to glimpse.
“Notice how a rainbow borrows from all of Earth’s elements to tell its story,” she said. “The fiery light of the sun casts itself upon droplets of moisture suspended in the Earth’s atmosphere. The light is split into a chorus of colors which form the shape of a brilliant arch. This arch forms a bridge between Heaven and Earth. And wherever a rainbow appears, whether or not a storm has passed, its message is always the same. Each carries every hue that can be imagined, reflected in perfect harmony.”
She continued, “Your life on Earth, dear child, contains all the colors that life can attest. You, and all upon the Earth, hold all the colors that Pure White Light can possess. Such colors are displayed as split but joined together in a way that unites them all. Intangible, but clearly visible, such a rainbow reveals its beauty, unmistakably and everywhere.”
As the vision deepened, and I remained suspended between waking and dream, the rainbow began to take solid form. Looking closer, I saw countless souls from every walk of life standing upon it at different intervals..
‘Walk it,’ the divine messenger stated, which I interpreted as a command. So I began to walk the rainbow’s path, walking with her, hand-in-hand. As I looked at her with eyes of wonder, she led me upward along the rainbow’s arc.
As we climbed higher, other hands began to join our own. Men, women, and children of every culture, faith, and lineage imaginable joined us on our journey skyward. When at last we gathered at the crest, our heavenly guide lifted her gaze and spoke. Her voice was clear and calm, ringing with divine certainty.
‘Children of both the Divine Father in Heaven and Divine Mother in Earth,” she said, “look down from heaven onto the world below.”
She continued, “From this higher perspective, it is clear that it does not matter your physical characteristics, the religion or beliefs you follow, or what you have manifested in your life. What truly matters is your shared purpose, which is one of walking the Earth as equals, creating awareness of who you are in Truth.’
We listened in reverent silence as she continued, “Look more clearly, dear ones. Stand upon this bridge between Heaven and Earth and see from a higher vantage point the living mural of all your collective fruits. See the destiny you paint upon your loving earth, how it’s been painted with forms and colors that emerge from your joined prayers.”
She continued, “Look upon your creations with loving, unjudging eyes. From the top of the rainbow, where you enter the realm of spirit, you perceive your true perfection. Only from a higher perspective, after rising above appearances and recalling the essence of your being, can you gain the clarity to ask questions that you might not otherwise consider. For example, you can inquire about how to set intentions, think, pray, and live in ways that honor the Earth as your companion and reflection on the journey to understand the One and All..”
She further encouraged us, “This is how to bridge Heaven back to Earth again and have it touch ground. While many of you are on a quest to rise and meet Spirit, only through descending back to the material realm can you bring the light of Spirit’s truth to the world of form.”
“As you stand high above the Earth, looking downward,” she guided us, “you can see more clearly how She, your Earth, reflects your level of alignment with your truest spiritual form. She represents both the shadow within you and your divine reflection. She teaches you a Higher Law that what you do unto the Earth, you do unto yourself, for She and you are One.“
As I began to ponder her instruction, the divine messenger resumed speaking, “Begin to see everything that is and that occurs as a form of communication. If you listen clearly, from a place of heightened awareness, you can learn what the Earth—your guardian, and you hers—is broadcasting through Her form. Through a language of symbols and mirrors, She will show you how to allow your collective, embodied life to radiate the Pure White Light from which all Her rainbows are born.”
She continued, “Look to Nature and see what has been created there. Where do you find a tree bearing healthy fruit, and where do you see the unhealthy weeds that, without boundaries, threaten what longs to flower more radiantly? Whatever you observe—and without labeling it as good or bad, but simply what is—ask yourself, What thoughts, desires, beliefs, or unseen seeds has this been sown from?
“Do not overlook the power of conventions, daily habits, and lifestyles, for these too are seeds in action. Like invasive weeds, they may spread and multiply until the original seed is difficult to find or to take accountability for.”
Pointing toward a part of the Earth spoiled by human hands and efforts, she said, “Here among the weeds lie the roots of collective prayers and thought-forms that have sown imbalance and chaos into a world still yearning to know peace and love.”
Then turning toward a landscape more vibrant and alive, she spoke again, “And here, within all that is beautiful, balanced, and unpolluted, dwell the seeds of Nature’s abundant, thriving fruits. Examining these fruits, and contemplating why they manifested more wholesomely, you may learn how to think and pray in more united and fertile ways.”
She lifted her gaze, her expression both tender and firm. “You can then unlearn the false conditioning that teaches you to adore the very seeds that bear unfriendly or polluting fruits. Choose instead to sow and create what serves the good of all. For, all are One, including One with the Earth Herself.”
The divine herald’s voice grew quieter, as though speaking directly into the heart. She spoke, “Test all your thoughts for their truth in Spirit, for each must be tested. Test your wants and prayers for their wider effects, for all have effects. Test what or whom you follow, believe, serve, or invest in—including through engaging in a consumer economy. Ask yourself, why? See how your light, and all its colors, touch everything and help paint the greater picture of your world.
“Know that humanity and Mother Earth are joined as One. With your minds, your hearts, and the works of your hands, you shape creation itself,” She reminded us. “Yet remember: whatever you manifest can never alter who you truly are in Spirit. It only mirrors how you see yourself and offers a story for your soul to tell.”
Then, In each of our right hands appeared a paintbrush, and in each of our left hands, a palette filled with all the colors of the rainbow.
The angels then looked upon us and said, “When you gaze down upon the Earth below, you may see that, through your conjoined efforts, you have painted a portrait of the son of man beginning to see himself as the Son of the Creator, and yet still painting the likeness of one bound to the image of man. Such a man becomes a son of industry, a son of bondage to all he conforms and falsely relies. You are not creatures of self-destruction, beloved ones. You hold the choice to paint a life that unfolds in new and liberated ways.”
She continued, “Be mindful of the divisions you create that keep you separated from Peace and from one another. In truth, you are all joined, One in Spirit, with the Creator of All That Is.”
Paintbrush in hand and radiant with beauty, wisdom, and strength, she spoke, “Make the choice to paint this truth upon the Earth you see. Paint it into your experiences and realities. It is time to embody what you know of your true Self. Look down from the top of this rainbow and ask Nature how to live this truth. Your material world is alive with mirrors. As such, it is alive with the portraits you choose to paint, the colors you use, and the stories each portrait tells.”
“Ask yourselves,” she urged, “what within you allows you to treat yourselves or the Earth as if unworthy? For when your bodies and the Earth become polluted, this is a symptom of something deeper. Your brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children, and Mother Earth are all ever worthy. When you, as a part of humankind, treat any form of life unkindly, it communicates where you have forgotten the colors of what you truly are, and of what All divinely is.”
As she spoke, she invited us to gaze upon the Earth with new eyes—eyes that know how to blend foresight with conscious intention.
“Free yourselves,” she then said gently. “You are here to learn a new freedom. You are called to remember who you are and why you came to Earth. The Earth is a story about yourself, first not knowing who you are and then learning the Truth. You are not a product to buy or sell. You own nothing and are owned by nothing. When you define yourself through the shadows of the world, you create suffering. When you define yourself through enlightened prayer, you recreate Truth. And if you cannot pray for light and peace to define your world, why pray at all?”
A question stirred within me: What if no one prayed at all?
Our angelic guide seemed to hear the thought before I could voice it. “You always have a choice,” she said softly. “You may choose whether or not to learn a lesson within a lifetime. Through not choosing, you never fail. You merely begin again. The cycle continues until you awaken.”
With these words, the vision shifted. The radiant angel lifted her hand toward a new horizon, and a glimpse of a possible future opened before us. I saw enlightened communities where men, women, and children were clothed in white, living in harmony upon the Earth. They shared freely, learned together, and tended the land with reverence. They no longer relied on money, but on an economy of exchange, and trust. Lifestyles were simpler and gentler. Power was ecologically responsible, and people lovingly shared responsibilities.
These were the communities that had learned to walk the way of the rainbow bridge. They were made up of souls who had learned to create a bridge between Heaven and Earth, connecting both realms with a paintbrush of living light.
Note: this is a newer version of a story I wrote contained in the book, I am the Lotus, Not the Muddy Pond.
