Hosting the Archangels: A Sacred 5-Day Invitation

Hosting the Archangels: A Sacred 5-Day Invitation

A different version of this article was posted to Bellesprit Magazine, in October, 2013.

By hosting the Archangels, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Metatron and Ariel (optional) – you are assisting them to serve Humanity and Mother Earth in more direct ways.

Hosting the Archangels is a simple yet profound spiritual practice that allows you to welcome Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Metatron, and optionally Ariel, into your home for five days. By doing so, you assist their work for Humanity and Mother Earth in a direct, heart-centered way.

This tradition began in 2010 through a New York–based medium named Irmi, who received intuitive inspiration after watching the film Pay it Forward. Since then, the ritual has quietly circled the globe, passed from person to person like a blessing carried on a whisper.

If you want to host the Archangels without using candles or physical items, you can do so. It is more about your intention rather than ritual. Some people connect better with a ritual, while others may not need them.

Preparing Your Home

Before the Archangels arrive, you’ll prepare a small altar. You’ll need:

  • A white flower
  • A candle (lit when you are home or asleep, and in a safe container)
  • A sealed envelope containing three wishes:
    • one for Mother Earth
    • one for your family
    • one for yourself
  • An apple, placed on top of the sealed envelope

Each household member may write their own envelope (if others in your home wish to be involved). And, your home should be tidy, as if preparing to receive honored guests.

Welcoming the Archangels

At 10:30 p.m., open your door and say:

“Hello and welcome Archangels to my home. You were sent to me from _____. I am grateful to each of you for purifying and bringing peace to this place and to all who live here. Thank you for bringing harmony, joy, serenity, and for fulfilling my wishes.”

From that moment on, the Archangels are with you, and the next five days are considered sacred. This is a time to:

  • Meditate
  • Reflect
  • Speak with them
  • Channel or do automatic writing
  • Ask for guidance or for the angels to come to you in dreams
  • Invite the the angels to accompany you throughout your day

Begin preparing the names and addresses of at least three people to whom you’ll pass the angels next. (Three is a suggestion, not a rule.)

When the Five Days Come to a Close

Just before 10:30 p.m. on the final day:

  1. Write the names of the next hosts on a sheet of paper.
  2. Place the paper near your candle for a few minutes.
  3. Step outside with the candle and paper.
  4. Give thanks to the Archangels.
  5. Light the paper with the candle flame (safely), sending the names into the ethers as instructions for where the angels will travel next.

Remember: after leaving your home, the Archangels rest for five days before visiting the next host.

If you are mainly doing this ritual for yourself, you can skip this part and simply express thanks that the angels have spent this sacred time with you and wish them will with whoever will be greeting them (as part of this ritual or in general).

After They Depart

  • Burn your envelope of wishes, scattering the ashes into running water (outdoors or indoors, depending on climate).
  • Eat the apple, which symbolically holds the blessings of the visit.
  • Place the white flower on the earth so it may naturally return to the soil.

Finally, send the ritual instructions to the next hosts so the cycle continues (if applicable).

What to Expect During Their Visit

During the five days, expect to experience:

  • Your home is blessed
  • Your energy becomes calmer
  • Clarity and peace increase
  • Higher light anchors into your space
  • Tasks feel easier and more harmonious
  • Your intuition may heighten

Many people repeat the ritual again and again because the presence of the Archangels feels supportive, centering, and deeply loving.

If you don’t have anyone to pass them to, simply ask the Archangels to visit those who need them most.

Understanding the Archangel Energies

Gabriel

Guides dreams, intuition, balance, and spiritual awakening.

Raphael

Brings healing, clarity, warmth, and support for decisions.

Michael

Offers protection, courage, communication, and truth.

Uriel

Works through fire, alchemy, and transformation, burning away old programming.

Metatron

Guardian of the Tree of Life; bridges Heaven and Earth through sacred geometry and higher wisdom.

Ariel (Optional)

Connects you with Nature, manifestation, and the sacred spark within all living things.

An Open Invitation

If no one has invited you, consider this your invitation. You may host the Archangels whenever you feel called.

This ritual is not about perfection. It’s about intention, reflection, and reconnecting with something higher than the noise of everyday life.

May your hosting be filled with peace, warmth, and luminous presence.

Knowledge Versus Wisdom

Knowledge Versus Wisdom

Knowledge fills the mind, but only wisdom can feed the garden.

This card invites you to examine where you’re holding knowledge in your mind but have not turned it into the heart-centered wisdom. While knowledge may be abundant in books, teachings, media, data, wisdom is born only through embodiment, experience, and the heart’s quest for greater understanding.

Knowledge can be collected. But wisdom is alive.

Wisdom doesn’t just ask what you know—it asks what that knowing energizes and brings into form. It looks for fruits and tangible effects and the conditions needed to create them. Anything that produces unloving fruits, or allows weeds to overtake the garden, must be re-evaluated and understood as misdirected knowing—as knowledge that has been planted in the soil but without the conditions necessary to manifest the flowers.

Take, for example, the desire to uplift the vibration of the Earth. The mind may hold the intention, much like a gardener holding a seed. But the act of planting that seed and walking away isn’t enough. Wisdom knows the soil must be prepared. The weeds must be pulled. Light and water must be adequately provided. Only with this care and love will the seed grow into something that brings lasting beauty and health.

In this metaphor, the weeds represent the habits, systems, lifestyles, and dependencies we’ve grown attached to. These weeds slowly destroy the soil, making the conditions for positive manifestation nearly impossible. What only wisdom can truly see is that many of us have become so dependent on the weeds, we fear we can’t survive without them.

While the message of this card may seem fraught with difficulty, you are asked to be patient. Like a seed blossoming into a tree, wisdom must be cultivated over time—it doesn’t arrive overnight. Let this card’s message begin the blossoming process.

A Gentle Blessing for the Road Ahead
May you trust the wisdom that grows through love—and honor the weeds you are brave enough to uproot. May each seed of knowing be given what it needs to bloom into the light and nourish the world.

Knowledge fills the mind, but only wisdom can feed the garden.

If this card appears reversed, the tree has been flipped. Knowledge now overshadows wisdom, leaving roots dangling in the air. In this position, what was once meant to grow upward is now suspended, disconnected from the nourishing soil of the heart.

You may be relying too heavily on data, teachings, spiritual “facts,” or conceptual understandings that feel right mentally but don’t quite align with your deeper truth. There might be something you’re holding onto that sounds wise, but when lived out, fails to bear loving fruits. This is a common and forgivable part of awakening—mistaking information for inner knowing, or assuming certainty must equal truth.

In this state, wisdom has not been lost—only obscured. The mind may be reaching for answers it thinks it should know, while the heart patiently waits to be consulted. Wisdom cannot be crammed, googled, or rushed. It reveals itself through integration, embodiment, and quiet trust in what Love would do, not just what a source claims is true.

When the roots of a tree are exposed to air too long, it weakens. So too can the soul weaken when knowledge is disconnected from the grounding presence of wisdom.

A Gentle Blessing for the Road Ahead
May you trust the wisdom that grows through love—and honor the weeds you are brave enough to uproot. May each seed of knowing be given what it needs to bloom into the light and nourish the world.
